My last read of 2020 after a long and hectic year. My aunt, two cousins, and my little sister have had (and recovered from) covid. I moved out in a pandemic the day before a lockdown (and in December no less). I had a big project I’d been working on for eight months cancelled as the pandemic rolled around, ten thousand dollars lost with it. My shifts at work have long ago ground to a halt.
I’ve been eyeing this beauty for weeks and finally caved when I was at the bookstore to pick up another book. The cover is gorgeous of course but the blurb is what broke me. Can’t wait to sink my teeth into this one!
My current read: Vengeful by V. E. Schwab. I loved Vicious and hesitated to start Vengeful because Vicious had ended. so. perfectly. But I’m glad I took the plunge because (although I’m not done yet so no spoilers please) I am loving this so far.
Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim was my absolute favourite book of last year. I read a library copy and loved it so much I went and bought my own copy and pre-ordered the second book as soon as I was done. Have you ever liked a library book so much you went and bought it for yourself? ⭐︎
Hope you’re all staying safe during this pandemic. I’ve been filling up my extra time with some writing and broke 70k today. I also finished the last of these three books last week. What are your quarantine reads? ⭐︎
A classic. I’m so excited for the prequel! Anyone else? ⭐︎
It’s the tenth anniversary of the day I started writing my book. When I met Stephen Chbosky recently, I found out his new book, Imaginary Friend, had also taken ten years to write. New on the blog, The Decadal Book with Stephen Chbosky. Link in bio. ⭐︎
I’ve been reading these two as prep for Nanowrimo. I never win Nano, but I do get a lot more writing done than other months when I take part. I’m adding to an existing project this year and aiming for 40k since I’ll have a busy month as it is. Anyone else taking part in @nanowrimo ? Good luck if you are! ⭐︎
I couldn’t believe how lucky I was to meet Stephen Chbosky the other day! I read Perks in high school before the movie came out, and Chbosky, who wrote a novel, then the screenplay adaptation, then directed the film was everything I wanted to be. Now I’m writing my own novels and making my own films. Stephen Chbosky heavily inspired me and you can look forward to a post all about it on my blog in the coming week. ⭐︎
