I went to a poetry workshop at my local library today with poet Jamesie Fournier, who is a really cool dude and excellent writer and presenter. It was crowded, which was so great to see! The workshop itself was fascinating and we wrote a couple poems each, including a blackout poem derived from Jamesie’s poem, Mali’s Park, and a poem made up of directions to a place. In this case, I chose to retrace the journey I took to university for the first time. Which means, for the first time in AGES, I have poetry to share with you! (Not that I haven’t been writing poems, but I only share some. Unfortunately, putting my poems on this blog can disqualify them publication elsewhere.) Anyway—enjoy!
Takedown

Directions From Home #1 to Home #3
Fly first to the clean place with dirty air
From there fly again to the old maze
Catch a coach into the night
Get off at the old king’s statue
Walk up the cobblestones
Cut through the overgrown cemetery
Once past the prison, you’ll find the castle
Why don’t you try it? Just choose a place and write down the directions in 5 to 10 steps. And if you’re curious about my journey to university to the first time, I wrote about it once for a school assignment. I wonder if I’ll be able to dig that up from somewhere…it would make a great blog post.

Beautiful pic 👌
